This is my last Kodiak session to blog this year. This family was so happy to have their two college-aged kids back in Alaska for a visit that they celebrated with a portrait session! Unfortunately they had one of my rainy sessions, but fortunately the huge trees in Abercrombie kept the rain off. And we had that wonderful foggy background that I love about Kodiak.

This was one rainy day! We really used our imagination getting this session done. Kudos to the Baranov Museum for letting us use their porch for some shots. Then off to a very wet beach. And then a retreat into the house. But honestly this child is so cute and is the king of expressions so I could take pictures of him anywhere and get lots of great shots.

This session was scheduled for the littlest fellow’s first birthday! Last year when I was in Kodiak, I had the honor of having a session with this family when he was just a couple hours old. So how cool that I get to photograph him on his first birthday! We had a great session even though the weather was a bit soggy. The older brother had fun splashing in puddles and getting kissed by a goat (see the last picture!).

I thought I had died and gone to portrait heaven when I came to this session in Kodiak. They requested the session at their property which is fine. But WOW! This place was right on the ocean with a private beach, huge lilly pond, old wooden boat in the yard, goat barn, thick forest, beautiful grassy lawn, etc. It was absolutely a dream for portraits. I photographed 5 girls from two families. These girls had spent the whole summer playing together on this property and they were all so much fun to work with!

I love this progression:
1 – Hmmm, what’s going on?
2 – That’s interesting.
3 – No way!
4 – OMG! This photographer lady is nuts! 🙂

I have had the privilege of photographing this beautiful girl every time I’ve visited Kodiak. She is a real sweetie. And now she has a smiley baby brother! I also love this family because they introduced me to a great source of Mexican food in Kodiak. Thanks guys! 🙂

I was fortunate to get to photograph this little fellow right before he moved to Anchorage. He was so sweet, never fussed, and went right to sleep at the end of the session so I could get some sleeping baby pictures. Perfect!

I just love this family. They open their hearts to me each time I visit Kodiak and help make my trip up there a reality. Thank you!
